NextGenPhys@NL, in collaboration with the Dutch Physics Council (DPC), organised a New PI meeting during NWO Physics 2026 in Veldhoven. The event brought together early-career researchers to discuss tenure track practices across Dutch universities. The discussion was informed by survey results collected by NextGenPhys@NL earlier in the year.

Both the survey findings and the points raised during the meeting will form the basis of a forthcoming opinion/white paper on tenure track practices in the Netherlands, contributing to ongoing discussions on transparency and career development.

The meeting also marked the first anniversary of NextGenPhys@NL, highlighting a year of building a national network connecting early-career physicists and new PIs. Looking ahead, NextGenPhys@NL aims to further strengthen the community through future events and mentoring initiatives.

On 19–20 June 2025, NextGenPhys@NL joined the NextGenChem@NL event in Enschede, focused on the theme “Academic Research at a Crossroads: Impact on Policy and Funding.”

This event marked the first appearance of NextGenPhys@NL, providing an opportunity to introduce the network and connect with the broader early-career researcher community. Our newly joined board member, Bijoy Bera, represented the physics community with a scientific talk during the event.
